Advertising Transparency

Advertising may fund the site. It will never write the stories.

The rules will be simple, visible and the same for everyone.

Deeply Curious currently displays no advertising and earns no revenue. In time, the site may be funded by advertising, affiliate links or clearly identified partnerships.

Display advertising

Advertising placements will be visually separated from editorial content and clearly labelled. No advertiser will have editorial control over an independent story concerning it.

The number of placements will be limited to preserve a fast reading experience, especially on mobile. Intrusive, deceptive or difficult-to-close formats are not part of the project.

Affiliate links

If a link ever earns Deeply Curious a commission, that relationship will be disclosed nearby. The commission must not change the price paid by the reader.

Sponsored content

Content funded by a brand will carry an explicit label such as “Partnership” or “Sponsored content”. It will never be presented as independent reporting.

Core rule

Funding may influence the decision to produce sponsored content. It must never be hidden from the reader.

Audience measurement and consent

Measurement tools, the consent interface and advertising partners will be listed once their final configuration is complete. Refusing consent must be as easy as accepting it.

At present, no optional audience-measurement tool or advertising tracker is active. Newsletter open and click tracking is disabled. The legal pages will be updated before any new tool, partner or funding method is added.
